
Farmers insurance tells the homeowners of Texas to be prepared for the upcoming hurricane season saying forecasts show this year Texans will experience one of the most active hurricane season.
Weather forecasts show there will be torrential rain and winds over 100 miles per hour. The question is are the homeowners ready for the season and are they ready to file their homeowners insurance claims in case of the need.
Farmers Texas State Executive Director John Henle says it takes some work to be ready. Have just the appropriate papers is not enough. The homeowners insurance provider says it is ready. Farmers mobile catastrophe units will be positioned near the places where the hurricane makes landfall. However, Henle says the company wants its customers to be ready.
In order to file the claims smoothly Farmers says the customers need to take a action such as recording their inventory so later the insurance agents know how exactly their homes and backyards looked like. Farmers specifically stands out three points that the homeowners should be prepared for.
1. Update the Home Inventory
2. Ready an Evacuation Plan
3. Know Where to Call
To replace your belongings in the fastest ways in case you need to file your homeowners' insurance take pictures of your property in a detailed way and keep them in a safe place. You may also want to email them to friends or keep them online so in case of an emergency they can be accessed quickly.
Plan ahead the safe evacuation of your family in case of a need. Map out the roads and highways that you will escape in case a hurricane nears your property. Keep important documents and IDs in a safe place.
Keep the important helpline telephone numbers with you. In other words, know where to call.
