On September 19 the newly appointed Ambassador of the United States to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch presented the copies of her credentials to Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian.
Greeting the guest, Minister Nalbandian congratulated her on appointment to the post of the US Ambassador to Armenia and wished her success in carrying out her diplomatic mission.
During the meeting the interlocutors discussed the perspectives of development of bilateral relations. Minister Nalbandian underlined that Armenia attaches importance to the deepening of multifaceted relations with the United States and will pursue the reinforcement of friendly partnership and cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Nalbandian and Ambassador Yovanovitch dwelt on the latest developments in the Karabakh conflict settlement. Edward Nalbandian noted that the Minsk Group is an acting format of Nagorno Karabakh settlement, which has proved its vitality and enjoys the support of the international community. He underlined that the negotiations in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and on the basis of the Madrid proposals can result in the resolution of the issue.
Turning to the latest developments in the region, RA Foreign Minister noted that Armenia has always considered and remains confident that the military way of conflict resolution is unpromising.
Presenting the perspectives of normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, the Armenian Foreign Minister assured that Armenia is willing to establish diplomatic relations without preconditions. According to Minister Nalbandian, RA President Serzh Sargsyan's invitation to his Turkish counterpart and the latter’s visit provided an opportunity for the normalization of relations.
The newly appointed US Ambassador assured that she will do her best for the development and expansion of relations between Armenia and USA.
