He said that even today the incitement and hatred has not been eliminated. The prime minister said there is much talk about what was but at the same time there is acceptance of the possibility of another political murder.
Olmert said that the Oslo agreements set the tone and the direction and that every government will have to tell the public the truth. He said that truth will require Israel to give up large parts of Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem and the Golan.
Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu says that the act of the murderer of Yitzhak Rabin will never be forgiven. He said that Rabin the soldier and politician gave his entire life for the security of Israel and the search for peace. Netanyahu said that his political opponents never doubted for one moment his honesty and his desire to work for the betterment of his people.
The Likud leader said that sadly because of the waves of terror and the Palestinian rejection his efforts were not fruitful. He said the lesson from his murder is for all responsible leaders to come out against incitement.
Also speaking at the Knesset was Labor Party leader, Defense Minister Ehud Barak who warned that the monster of radicalism that led to Rabin's murder could emerge again if a prime minister.
