In late 2007, Governor Schwarzenegger recognized that a housing crisis was imminent and formed a multi-department coalition to begin reaching out to lenders and homeowners so that they could take action to prevent foreclosure. He also launched his 90 Days of Hope Campaign to promote the non-profit HOPE Hotline. The hotline recently reported a 300 percent increase in calls to the hotline from California families since he launched the public awareness campaign.
Sadly, those numbers indicate we have a serious problem, but like Governor Schwarzenegger always says - Californians are resilient and with some help from corporate agreements and legislation, they are taking action and keep their homes.
The HOPE Hotline is still available to homeowners in trouble and with the Governor's recent proposal for a 90-day hiatus on some foreclosure proceedings, it's more important than ever to get our there and spread the hope.
Tonight we'll be working with Univision, Sacramento. Please tune in if you think you might be in trouble. Or if you don't call us tonight - call the HOPE hotline anytime at 888-95-HOPE.
It's more important than ever to educate homeowners in trouble about their options. Please share my message with your friends and neighbors. Foreclosure doesn't have a language or a race - it's a California problem and you can help stop it.
