Foreign Minister of Israel Tzipi Livni left for Paris on Thursday morning for meetings with President Nicolas Sarkozy of France who plans to come next week to Israel.

Livni will also meet her French counterpart Bernard Kouchner. They will discuss a French proposed ceasefire. Livni is expected to tell them that Israel is not interested in a ceasefire and is continuing its military campaign against Hamas targets in Gaza.

Livni has strongly opposed the proposal for a 48 hour ceasefire in order to transfer humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Israel officials said that some 90 trucks carrying supplies are allowed into the strip daily.

In the meanwhile Muhammed Bassouney, head of Egypt's parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committtee has strongly attacked the Hamas leadership. He accused them of hiding as ordinary citizens are dying in Israeli air raids in Gaza.

He told Egyptian television that Ismail Haniyh couldn't care less if Palestinians in Gaza are massacred.

The Egyptian Al Ahram newspaper reports that Egyptian forces are looking for a Hamas cell that has reportedly infiltrated into the Sinai in order to carry out an attack on security forces.
