Costa Rica Rocked By Strong Earthquake

According to the Red Cross the earthquake has hit hard and people are feared of collapsing houses. The immediate damages where broken windows and cracked walls. The earthquake who also had four aftershocks created movie liked panic scenes out in the streets.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.1 magnitude temblor struck 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest of San Jose, at a depth of 28 miles (35 kilometers).

Canal 7 television showed images of broken windows, fallen ceiling panels and cracked walls. It said the quake was felt strongly throughout the small Central American country.

There is damage near the epicenter of the Costa Rica earthquake, and rumors that a dam near the epicenter could have cracks in it, and an evacuation of the area is being considered. There are damaged roads, and small damage in buildings country-wide.

San José airport is currently closed.
