A man was shot to death in Australia in what investigators describe as road rage.

The tragic incident happened in Queensland's Gold Coast last night when a 32 year old man was shot to death. According to ABC News the victim was shot and killed beside his car near the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh Heads about 10.30pm (AEST). The gunman has left the scene in a red car and is being looked for by the Police.

While the police has not gotten yet an official report, Detective Inspector Marc Hogan told the ABC Australian News the following.

"Basically what's happened is the victim has been standing beside his vehicle, the other vehicle has approached and shots have been fired and he's slumped against the vehicle and not long after died as a result of those wounds," he said.

The ambulance service also attended but the man died at the scene.

According to Goldcoast the gunshots were heard in a nearby residential area. A resident Susan Sinclair describes the shots while she was watching TV.

"I ducked and said 'that's gunshots'.

"It was a bang, bang.

"I've come outside and he was lying on the ground

"There were about 10 young kids surrounding him and a nurse was administering CPR.

"Apparently he was shot in the stomach twice," she said.

Goldcoast continues by saying that a Hyundai car may have been involved in the shooting and is being searched by the police. According to the Police some lanes of the highway will be closed for a while due to the investigation.
