Obama Chocolate Cake Sold In Azerbaijan

One of the readers of Day.az, a popular news source in Azerbaijan has sent a photo, taken in one of the bakeries in the capital Baku at which it is seen that the chocolate cake "Obama" is introduced to the Azerbaijani market.

Obamamania has now reached Azerbaijan where a chocolate cake branded Obama has hit the capital Baku.

For a price of 15 manats (about $US 12), Azerbaijanis can enjoy a piece of ‘Obama’ with tea, lenta.ru reports.

After U.S. President Barack Obama won the election, his name has become one of the world's most popular brands, helping to sell products from boxer-shorts to condoms, hot sauce to cigars, and airline tickets to heroin. There are Obama-branded cafes, T-shirts, mobile phones and ice cream.

However, this ‘Obamamania’ might be stopped soon and the merchandisers’ paradise could be over. White House lawyers are going to protect the Obama brand and limit commercial use of the president’s name.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said: “Our lawyers are working on developing a policy that will protect the presidential image while being careful not to squelch the overwhelming enthusiasm that the public has for the president.”

An American toy company had to rename two dolls which were obviously modelled after the President’s two children. After First Lady Michelle Obama voiced her concerns, ‘Marvelous Malia’ and ‘Sweet Sasha’ got ‘retired’ and will now be sold as Marvellous Mariah and Sweet Sydney.
