
The Prime Minister of the Great Britain and EU leaders will convene in Brussels today for an informal EU Council meeting on the global economic crisis. Gordon Brown will also brief leaders on the preparations for the forthcoming G20 Summit, which will take place in London on 02 April 2009.
European leaders last met on 07 November 2008 for a special EU council on the financial crisis, where they agreed a series of measures aimed at reforming the international financial system.
The Czech Presidency of the European Union has decided to convene an informal meeting of Heads of State or Government to discuss the economic situation and the European recovery plan. This informal meeting will consist of a working lunch on Sunday 1 March at 13.00 and will be held at the Council's Justus Lipsius building, 175 rue de la Loi, Brussels.
The press centre, specially equipped with the usual facilities for the press and audiovisual media, will also be in the Justus Lipsius building.
A media programme will be circulated at a later time.
Please note however that the informal format of the meeting will mean that press/photo TV opportunities will be limited.
