Trying to bring a beneficial meaning to the new urban wave that is swamping the world, the organizers from Cwalk Media decided to arrange the first ever live international C-Walk Tournament in the world.
Beat'N Up is going to happen on March 14th, 2009 in Sofia the capital city of Bulgaria. Implementing rap, beatbox and more Hip Hop dancing for the pauses everybody hopes this event is going to blow it up.
The idea for this firstly aroused in Nikolay Kolev’s mind(the owner of Cwalk Media) who decided it’s high time to help some more for the development of the dance. With the heroic death of Darren Chhuon(known as Dazaa around the C-Walk communities) he got also sure about what date this should happen on.
Dazaa drowned on January 14th the same year saving two of his best friends in an exchange for his own life. So simple enough this event is to make the memory of Dazaa live on forever, reminding everybody that the good should guide us in life.
Although the roots of the C-Walk lead to the gangs in California, Beat’N Up has no correlation to them. It is representing the new underground dance known better as Clown Walking. The idea is to give the youths some sort of meaningful past time activity where they could go out of the box, be creative and stay off the streets.
Right now there are dozens of online communities for C-Walking what are better recognized by the fans as a second home for them to exchange ideas and chat with peers on their age. Even though the languages on earth are more than 6800, there’s this one language all people understand and that one is called dancing. Every month thousands of kids upload videos to online streaming sites to share them with one another so they can exchange ideas and opinions.
The organizers hope the event is really going to help for the growth of this rather young urban dance and soon to see some of the best walkers featuring in music videos and commercials. Because what could be a better stimulus for the youngsters to keep developing into something as beautiful as dancing?
