Kuwait Govt Resignation May Trigger Election

Kuwait Amir issues decreee accepting government resignation.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a decree Monday accepting resignation of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the ministers, but instructed them to run "urgent affairs" of the state until new cabinet formation.

Earlier His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Seif Palace, Monday, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Interestingly befor that Amir had received Tony Blair who is directing Quartet's efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.

Reuters reports that Amir may call for fresh elections in Kuwait. "Islamists tightened their grip in the last election in May 2008 and since then have pushed to increase state aid for citizens, in contrast to government plans to encourage employment in the private sector."
