Street Painting Art: New directions on a traditional art form

Follow us on Twitter

Street painting art has grown in our experience in the last several years in what we at Blog Now on streetpainting.tv see as new, and interesting and want to share our thoughts with you.

Street painting art festivals

Many new festivals and programs involving street painting have sprung up bringing the medium to viewers and new artists across the USA and internationally. Some of these events are competition based, with prizes awarded to the top artists as well as a people’s choice award. The incentives can involve cash, scholarships, or public acknowledgement. Others stem from the not for profit model of providing services to the local communities through arts education in the schools, special needs or at risk programs. Some festivals are being franchised to not for profits to establish branded events across the USA.

Street painting art - commercial applications

Commercially, street painting art has become attractive to advertising, marketing, public relations, & entertainment companies to present their client’s intended branding or product message in an entertaining and exciting way. The street painting artists and the companies who can provide the professional street painting art talent to these clients are making a successful living and enjoying positive reputations and a degree of international celebrity. Currently, artists with proven ability in designing and creating 3-D illusionary or anamorphic style art are the most in demand.

Street painting art as social media

Since the popular introduction of Web 2.0, social networking media, and sites such as YouTube, Facebook, Ning, and Twitter, among a host of others, street painting artists, festivals, and fans have been presenting videos, blog posts, tweets, and forums about their favorite artists and festivals. It is not a surprise that the street painting artists with international reputations produce videos of their work for public consumption and distribution via emails, while bloggers and viral marketers can find the 3-D street painting pictures very useful in achieving their goals in increasing attention.

Street painting art as a business

Street painting has evolved from the stereotype of the traveling or itinerant artist, drawing on the ground for a day or so then moving on, collecting coins and food as their reward. Today, street painting festivals exist which are often operated by not for profit organizations to satisfy parts of the organizations’ missions, and of course, the enterprising street painting artist with the proper combination of artistic talent and business competency. Our own company, Art for After Hours has provided professional street painters for many corporate and not for profit projects in the USA and internationally which has proven successful for some time. It is our belief that there is more than enough street painting art opportunity for all of the creative talents and their teams worldwide.

Street Painting art in new technologies

Moving forward, rapid developments in 3-D technologies in media, entertainment, and workplaces will reach the most creative and visionary street painting artists, festivals, and companies. The opportunities for the next generation of street painting artists, festivals, and fans to collaborate and advance this traditional sixteenth century art form will only be limited by the imagination and vision of those who will make the most of these new, eye-opening opportunities. The 21st century for street painting art holds great promise and we plan to be a part of the conversation. We look forward to continuing to share our love, appreciation, and respect for this art form with all who enjoy it as well.
