Possibly in a multiple shooting the Police tells WBNG that there are as many as 12 dead in Binghamton shooting situation in New York that also include hostages. At this time we don't know if the shooting in Binghamton is over. SWAT team is ready to make an entry if someone opens fire. Negotiators are working looking to make contact with the shooters inside where the hostages are. This public terrorsm is crazy and has got to stop.
A gunman or gunmen has entered the Binghamton immigration service and has short and killed 12 people, injured many and about 12 to 24 are held hostages. CNN says that if the shooter is talking on the phone he is not shooting at the same time. So any kind of engagement with the shooter is helping to stop the killing at least in the short term.
Reports come that Broome Community College professor has been colled to help with the situation to translate. Apparently there was a need for someone to speak Vietnamese. New York Governor Patterson is planning to fly to Binghamton to be directly involved in the situation. There is a lot in this situation that is not clear.

“This is a tragic day for New York. While the situation is still developing and details are being gathered, we do know that a gunman entered the American Civic Association in Binghamton this morning and that there are fatalities. We are monitoring the situation and I have directed the State Police to assist the Binghamton Police Department in any way they can.
“I speak for all of New York when I offer my prayers for the victims and families of this tragedy.”
