Police hunting the killer of eight-year-old Tracy, California girl Sandra Cantu, whose body was found yesterday in a suitcase after an irrigation pond was drained, today cordoned off Clover Road Baptist Church as part of their investigation.

The Clover Road Baptist Church on West Clover Road is down the street from where Sandra lived at the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park in Tracy, California.

Sandra, a second grader at Jacobson Elementary School, disappeared on March 27 after telling her mother she was going to a friend’s home to play.

Tracy Police Sgt Tony Sheneman said investigators planned to search the Clover Road Baptist Church in conjunction with a search of a residence in the mobile home park.

Neighbors said the home being searched was that of the pastor who lives at the mobile home park with his wife, daughter and granddaughter.

Sheneman refuse to comment on any interest in the pastor.

“He is one of the people we have spoken to,” Sheneman said. “We have not closed our interest on any particular person, and we’re still looking for the perpetrators of this crime.

“At the moment, I can’t comment on specific leads or avenues that we are pursuing.”

Police have questioned at least three other people during the investigation, including Sandra’s father, who lives in Mexico and works in southern California, and two men who live near the girl’s home.

An autopsy was under way this morning at the San Joaquin County coroner’s office to determine the cause of Sandra’s death.
