The city grew by almost 75,000 people over the year.
The figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show the City of Wyndham posted the biggest growth, with nearly 9,000 extra people settling there over the year.
Currently, according to skyscraperpage.com the population of Melbourne is 3,806,092.
