This is the third odd day of the 21st century, one in six. The reason it's called an Odd Day is because it features three consecutive odd numbers: 05/07/09.
The Odd Day has become so popular that some people even try to make money out of it.
Ron Gordon from Oddday.net has set up a contest. Here is how it works. "We've established a contest and are offering the date in dollars ($579) to be shared by the winners. Prizes will be distributed to those who involve the most people in the Oddest Parade of Odd Characters, write the best Odd Ode, or create the best Odd Celebrations."
The site also suggests few odd things that you can do on this odd day. "It's a great day to do your odds 'n ends, give a friend a high-five, root for the odds-on-favorite, read the Wizard of Odds, watch the Odd Couple, say aaaahd in the doctor's office, look for sea odders, find that missing odd sock, and beat the odds."
Our society and the scientists probably love to give names to our calendar dates. Today is Odd Day, but we also have Square root day, Pi day, Star Wars Day, and now Odd Day. Not that amazing. "Get it a rest, guys," writes one person in her twitter apparently not pleased for too much math.
Now our Odd Day challenge. Do you know what the remaining 5 odd days of the century are? Email your answer to info@huliq.com and we will publish in our new story or will update in this story.
