Heritage Christian School in Findlay, Ohio has made national headlines for a decision to suspend a student for participating in a prom at a nearby public school.

According to the Findlay local newspaper Thecourier.com "A senior at Heritage Christian School will be suspended Monday for attending Findlay High School's prom because the event involves dancing and rock music. A Heritage School committee decided Wednesday that Tyler Frost, 17, will be suspended if he attends Saturday's dance because the school's policy forbids dancing, rock music, hand holding and kissing."

Tyles Frost has said he plans to attend the prom. Heritage Christian School in Findlay says if he attends the prom he will be suspended, but if according to The Courier 'If Frost "is involved with alcohol or sex' at the prom, he will be expelled from Heritage, England said."

Who is right and who is wrong?

The situation is controversial isn't it? We called the school and the official who picked up the phone at the Heritage Christian School in Findlay, Ohio told us that only the Principal is handling the questions about this matter and he was not available. I suggested that they would be better to put a statement on their website instead of the media writing "who said what." The issue has already become a national topic of discussion

Obviously there is nothing immortal or sinful in dancing. However, some question the rock music. Some may argue that in this day and age of liberties and freedom of expression the position of Heritage Christian School in Findlay is wrong.

On the other hand, we were told that students sign certain papers when they are accepted into the Heritage Christian School in Findlay, Ohio, which is a conservative "fundamentialist Baptist school."*

We don't know the content of the papers that the students sign when they are accepted to Heritage Christian School in Findlay, Ohio. However, the existence of the fact of signing papers already suggests some responsibility. Frost's stepfather, Stephan Johnson, said he plans to file a lawsuit against the school, continues reporting the paper.

In our personal opinion if the school regulations don't allow attending prom in another school, perhaps it's not worth it to lose your graduation and be suspended for the sake of Prom. On the other hand, perhaps it would be a good idea to come up with an alternative to prom in the Heritage Christian School property, so the school students have something to celebrate, similar to prom and not feel left behind.
