Google had some problems this morning. It was slow, in some places Google was down and the outage was on and off. According to NY Times Google has already confirmed that there has been some outage this morning, but what may have caused it?

First let's see what Google says, which is published in NY Times. "We’re aware some users are having trouble accessing some Google services,” a Google spokesman, Gabriel Stricker, said in an e-mail message. “We’re looking into it, and we’ll update everyone soon."

Google also released a statement in it's Twitter page suggesting that the slow down and the outage is already resolved. "The issue affecting some Google services has been resolved. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, and we'll share more details soon." By the way Google has 636K followers at this time, much less than Ashton and CNN competing for one million.

Now what has changed in Google after the outage?

We can't say this is the exact reason, but here is what we found in Google News. As you can see int he attached image, Google News already started to show Ads from Adsense also on the top of the news reports. We knew that Google had already started to experiment with this. It has been few months. However, this morning it was the first time that we noticed Ads showing on the top of Google News reports very similar to organic search results ads: on the top and on the right column.

By the way Google Webmasters Tools is getting a brand new look - much nicer. Well done Google.
