Wesley Korir, Tatiana Petrova Winners Of Los Angeles Marathon

As thousands of runners raced through the center of L.A. Wesley Korir and Tatiana Petrova became the winners of the 2009 Los Angeles Marathon.

The winners of the 2009 Los Angeles marathon are from Kenya and Russia. There is also another record set today. Wesley Korir is the 11th strait Kenyan man winning the Los Angeles marathon. Tatyana Petrova won the women's race this afternoon. She is also a Beyjing Olympics participant.

Wesley Korir run 26.2 miles in a personal best of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 24 seconds. Tariku Jafar from Ethiopia showed the second result with two hours, nine minutes and 32 seconds. In the past the course record at the Los Angeles Marathon was set by his countryman Benson Cherono.

Tatiana Petrova's start in today's LA Marathon was not initially impressive. However, after running for about 19 miles she broke away from the group and spearheaded to the finish. Petrova advanced from Ethiopia's Amane Gobena to finish in 2:25:59. Another Russian, Silvia Skvortsova, was third in 2:28:35.
