San Diego marathon was just concluded and we have a winner. Khalid El Boumlili of Morocco, who dropped out of the LA Marathon on Monday at mile 18 due to hamstring problems, came back today to San Diego and became the winner of the 2009 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. Yuliya Gromova of Russia, the defending women's champion, won her second straight San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon with a personal best of 2:27:36.

Today, about 165,000 spectators were expected to watch the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon 2009. This is the only full marathon in San Diego, California. It's a 26.2-mile run that begins at the Balboa Park and ends at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot.

Congratulations not only the winners of the 2009 San Diego Marathon Khalid El Boumlili and Yuliya Gromova, but only those who registered, showed up, run and finally completed the race. It takes not only good running shoes, but also strong will and a desire to excel in healthy lifestyle.
