Officials say Australia needs to do more to train and retain talented workers for its Oil and Gas industry.
ABC Australia reports that the Deloitte Oil and Gas Group has published a report highlighting the top 10 issues facing the industry. The 7th point in that report refers to the shortage of talented workers. Deloitte's Stephen Reid says 50 per cent of oil and gas workers in North America will reach retirement age by 2015.
Therefore, it's not surprising that under it's Current Career Opportunities Deloitte Oil and Gas Group has set up a comprehensive job training program for oil and gas professionals. The course materials are tailored to meet the needs of those who are new in the oil industry.
"Oil and gas training, skills and experience are crucial factors in the success of any organization operating in the oil and gas industry. In the Petroleum Services group at Deloitte, we have a deep level of knowledge in key areas that we believe are vital to understanding the complexities of the modern oil and gas industry. With this in mind, we have developed a set of industry focused training courses to help professionals better understand events and perform their roles to the best of their abilities."
The three day interactive course program explores the technical, political and commercial influences on the evaluation of assets within the global oil and gas industry; taking into account the impact of field development choices.
