Ofcom To Investigage Britain's Got Talent Complains

Ofcom says an investigation is possible on Britain's Got Talent and how it treats its participants after Susan Boyle's overnight fame took her to hospital with an anxiety attack.

Ofcom has released the following message on Britain's Got Talent audience complains.

There has been a lot of public interest in the semi-final and final of ITV's popular Britain's Got Talent programme.

A number of people have contacted Ofcom to make comments and complaints about aspects of the programme.

Audiences' views matter and every complaint we receive about a television or radio programme is assessed against the Broadcasting Code.

This is the rulebook that spells out what are the appropriate standards on television and radio programmes as well as the rules on how people who are featured in programmes should be treated.
Broadcasting Code

With Britain's Got Talent, we are reviewing the complaints we have received against the Broadcasting Code. As with all such cases, our assessment will help us to decide whether we need to investigate or not, however at present we are not investigating.

Today we have published our weekly update of audience complaints.

This shows that 16 people complained about Saturday's final of Britain's Got Talent.
