Barack Obama delivering his speech in Cairo says "Any world order that elevates one nation or any group of people will not prevail. So when we think of past we should not be prisoners of it."

The president is speaking right now in the University of Cairo praising Muslim nations' achievement and telling that people have more in common than things that separate people. However, the president says we have to confront all types of violent extremism.

Obama Speech About Iraq
US is seeking no bases in Iraq, says Obama. "America has a dual responsibility: to help Iraq forge a better future - and to leave Iraq to Iraqis."

Is Obama declaring the Iraq war a mistake? He said "the less we use our power the greater it be."

One lone clap for "let's talk about Israel"
He spoke of Holocaust. "Denying that fact is ignorant and hateful." I think that's a shot at holocaust deniers in Iran. He said the situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable and America "will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own."

On Israel/Palestine: the only resolution is two states. "Two states" solution is everyone's interest. He will pursue this with all the patience the task demands. This is the obligations the two parties have agreed under the road map. Palestinians must abandon violence. It does not succeed. Violence is a dead end.

President Obama began his trip Wednesday in Riyadh, where White House officials say he and Saudi King Abdullah discussed a number of issues including Middle East peace, the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Iran and energy. Hamas must recognize Israel's right to exist.

The United States cannot recognize the legitimacy of Israeli settlement. "It is time for these settlements to stop. Hamas must recognize Israel's right to exist. No applause. U.S. does not accept continued settlements. Applause.

We will say in public what we say in private to Israelis, Palestinians and people.

U.S. Iran relations

"I made it clear to Iran's leaders and people that my country is ready to move forward." He said in his speech that he seeks a world where no nation holds nuclear weapons.

Addressing Democracy

Just the WORD democracy gets applause. Obama said 'America does not presume that it knows what is best for everyone.'

Obama also spoke about religious freedom, saying it's central for people to live together. He spoke of women's rights and prosperity.

Moments after Mr. Obama arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Al Jazeera television aired a new audio tape attributed to al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, who criticized the U.S. president's efforts to connect with Muslims. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs called it an effort to upstage Mr. Obama and divert attention from his message.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also criticized President Obama's efforts, saying the United States is "deeply hated" in the Middle East. He said such hatred cannot be removed by slogans and speeches.

Khamenei made the remarks Thursday in Tehran in a speech marking the 20th anniversary of the death of his predecessor, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who led the revolution which established an Islamic republic.

Aides say the Obama Cairo speech will be just one part of a long process toward his goal of mending U.S. ties with the Muslim world.
