Wal-Mart jobs are coming to town. The largest U.S. employer Wal-Mart, which has stopped making monthly sales predictions, made an announcement that it will add 22,000 jobs to its U.S. workforce.

Wal-Mart will have store manager, pharmacist, cashiers and other responsibility openings throughout the United States. I particularly welcome the decision to hire cachiers, hoping it will put an end to Wal-Mart lines. Customers do spend long times waiting to check out.

These job openings will be made available in existing stores, as well as in stores that are waiting to open. This is part of Wal-Mart's expansion strategy.

Wal-Mart is the largest U.S. employer and has 1.4 million workforce.

In the meanwhile Target is expanding in Wal-Mart country. Target opened up shop near Wal-Mart's headquarters. The result is friendly competition that's raising everyone's game, reports CNN.

"Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500) executives, in fact, have become regular visitors at this Target (TGT, Fortune 500) store. It's located about seven minutes from Wal-Mart No. 1, the first Wal-Mart ever built, which opened in 1962, and is about 20 minutes (without traffic) from Wal-Mart's headquarters in neighboring Bentonville.

"Former Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott and his successor Mike Duke are both frequent visitors, according to Target store manager Chuck Simmons, who jokes that he has become so friendly with Wal-Mart's district manager that "he's like my second boss."
