On on its website, Fly Clear has the following message.
Clear Lanes Are No Longer Available. At 11:00 p.m. PST on June 22, 2009, Clear will cease operations. Clear’s parent company, Verified Identity Pass, Inc. has been unable to negotiate an agreement with its senior creditor to continue operations.
Verified Identity Pass, Inc. operated Fly Clear, the fast pass through airport security.
Clear Card members were provided with a high tech card that allowed them to get through airport security checkpoints in mere minutes - every time they fly. The Clear card used biometrics (iris and fingerprints) to verify identity at 21 airports nationwide and is used for expedited access to some football stadiums, too.
As the Verified Identity Pass has ceased Fly Clear, the question is what happens to the many Clear cards that customers have been holding in their hands. Moreover, what happens to that valuable and private data in these cards.
Fly Clear has to address these issues on its website too. It needs to give the customers peace of mind.
