According to a TV show Extra, Farrah Fawcett is a devout Catholic Christian and a friend describes her being "fearless" at the moment. The Catholic priest will administer her the last rites in a Los Angeles Hospital.
She is now in an Intensive Care Unit battling her cancer. Allen Miller, Farrah Fawcett's publicist also updated his Twitter about her worsening health and about receiving last rights. "It was just related to me, that our Farrah just given last rites. She is not in any pain. For those who believe make contact with god now," wrote Allen.
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006, and began treatment, including chemotherapy and surgery.
According to Catholic.com the Last Rites, also known as the anointing of the sick was cherished among Christians from the early days of the Christian Church. The anointing of the sick is given not only in immediate danger of death, but even at the beginning sign of danger from illness or old age.
The most important part of the last rites is the reception of the Lord in one’s final Communion, also called "Viaticum" (Latin = that which you take on the road, i.e., provisions for a journey). This special Communion prepares us to travel with the Lord on the final part of our journey.
May peace be with Farrah Fawcett and may God help her to stay strong.
