
The 44th American President, President Barack Obama, his wife, Michelle and his two daughters arrived in Accra last night for a two-day official visit to Ghana. Barack Obama may announce a major policy statement for Africa.
The visit will, no doubt, mark another important development in Ghana-US relationship, for which some 507 journalists, both local and foreign, have formally applied to the Ministry of Information for the opportunity of recording the event into history.
The US President Barack Obama is scheduled to hold a bilateral breakfast meeting with President Mills and the two ex-Presidents of Ghana this morning at the Castle, visit the La Polyclinic, make a major policy statement on Africa at the Accra International Conference Centre before departing with his wife for Cape Coast where a mini durbar will be held in their honor at the Oguaahene’ palace.
He is expected to use the opportunity to announce major policy statements on Africa in the August House with foreign policy analysts hoping to hear from the US President policies that will be mutually beneficial to both the continent and the US.
Mrs Michelle Obama will be honored with the title of a queen after which they will tour the Cape Coast Castle.
After Cape Coast, the Obama’s are expected to return to Accra today and Presidents Obama and Mills will address a conference at the Kotoka International Airport before saying goodbye to Ghana.
