Venetian Night Chicago 2009 To Attract Record People

Venetian Night Chicago 2009 is expected to attract more than 500,000 people today. The festival is expected to be so crowded that the Chicago Transit Authority will provide buses and transportation for the 52nd annual Venetian Night festival in Chicago.

The theme of the 2009 Venetian Night in Chicago is called "Hollywood on the Lake."

“Hollywood on the Lake” will be brought to life as boats will be decorated with lights and props as they sail along beautiful Lake Michigan, between the Shedd Aquarium at Roosevelt Road and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Street. People of all ages stake out spots along the lakefront as early as 9 am to ensure a good view of the event. Taking public transportation, walking or biking to Venetian Night is encouraged.

Venetian Night is the longest running event that the City of Chicago produces, and was once a multiple day event that featured a beauty pageant and parade on State Street in addition to the lighted boat parade and fireworks show on the waterfront.

Explore Chicago extends special thanks to Red Bull & the Chicago Yachting Association for assisting in preparations of this year's Venetian Night in Chicago. The 52nd Annual Venetian Night is set for Saturday, July 25, 2009. Approximately 35 boats will be decorated with lights and props as they sail along beautiful Lake Michigan, between the Shedd Aquarium at Roosevelt Road and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Street.

Following the parade there will be a fireworks display that is synchronized to music. Attracting a crowd of more than half a million people, Chicago's magnificent lakefront is transformed into a nighttime venue of fun.

The boat parade will start at 8:15 pm. The fireworks will start at 9:00 pm. Have a safe and wonderful time at the 2009 Venetian Night in Chicago.
