The Leeward Islands are located at where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. The southern part of the Lesser Antilles chain is called the Windward Islands. According to RadioNuevitas, a radio station based in Cuba, the Tropical Storm Ana can usher the 2009 season of storms.
At 6 AM on Saturday morning the center of Tropical Storm Ana was estimated at 14.6 degrees north latitude and 47.0 degrees west longitude. This is a position that places it about 1510 miles east of Saint Lucia and 1360 miles east of Barbados. However, it was moving west at about 26 kilometers per hour and is expected to continue with similar direction, with an increase in the speed of translation the next two days and this trend may be approaching the Leeward Islands on Monday.
At that time its maximum sustained winds were 65 miles per hour and its minimum central pressure was 1005 mb. Observers predict that the Tropical Storm Ana in the next 24 to 48 hours will undergo a slow process of intensification.
Tropical Storm Ana was being closely monitored by the National Weather Institute of Meteorology. However, it seems that the 2009 Tropical Storm Ana may lose its force in few days. The U.S. National Hurricane Center just updated with new information reading "If a storm is expected to dissipate within 5 days, its track will be shorter."
