It hurt more than Sunday for some reason, maybe because the only sounds I could hear were my own thoughts. After all, it will be eight months before the next major.
I am trying to find solace in all of this:
Maybe Tiger will win 3 more times this year...so what!
The Presidents Cup is this year, Tiger could beat Yang...big deal!
Tiger will win the Fed Ex Cup (I digress, what kind of playoff is it when the winner doesn't even have to play in the final?). No one cares.
Tiger made no putts all day and Y. E. had a lucky chip-in eagle on 14. Nope, that doesn't work either.
Tiger needs more second place Major finishes...YES, that's it! Did you know that Jack had more seconds than wins? 19 runner-ups and 18 victories. Tiger has a long way to go, he now has six.
If he averages one Major win over the next 10 years, he blows away Jack's victory record (even Jack thinks he will do it). It's second-place finishes he needs. So thank you Y.E. Yang for being mentally tough and for making it exciting.
The one common element in all of these exciting major tournaments... Tiger Woods.
It still hurts.
