According to The Official Google Blog, every minute of each day, 270 000 words are written on Blogger. A product of Google, Blogger is the biggest blog host worldwide. If you’re looking to generate a significant amount of traffic for your blog, then Blogger is the place for you. Many professional websites started as blogs on Blogger.com and continue to use Blogger features. It may be credited with the development of the technical know-how of many a clueless blogger. With its easy to use word processing, template designs and sophisticated-yet-simple gadgets, Blogger has been a very welcoming host for many a blogger.
Networks have been built; life-long friendships have been formed and cultivated on Blogger. Perhaps best of all, stories have been told, grammar has been perfected and employment opportunities have presented themselves. Those who have stuck with it may confess that their powers of self-expression are generally much improved. Blogger.com truly is a cyber community on its own.
So why blog? The most obvious reason: it’s fun! In the process, you get the great feeling of sharing your thoughts, ideas and experiences with others. Bloggers can testify to the good feeling of knowing that you’re not alone in your situation or your thinking, and sometimes strangers offer the best support and comfort. If it’s a free platform like Blogger, it’s a cheap and convenient way to advertise your business or talents online. Of course, you can always start a private blog if you are uncomfortable with the World Wide Web having access to it.
The prosperity of Blogger is either proof that everyone can call themselves a writer or that blogs can be useful to everyone in some way. It’s also proof that everyone has something to talk about. Still, there are four tips that may be key to your success as a blogger should you ever make that step:
1. If you’re writing for a general audience rather than your personal group of friends alone, choose a focus for your blog. One topic around which a majority of your posts will revolve. It could be anything from shoes to economics to your new kitten.
2. Explore the blogosphere and discover other bloggers with similar interests to yours. Follow and comment on their blogs religiously. This is like introducing yourself to the blogosphere.
3. Tell people about your blog! Naturally, starting with your friends and family, if you want to of course. Publicise it on any networking sites you have, for example, Facebook, Twitter, Bebo, etc.
4. The most important tip anyone can give you about blogging is to BLOG! Don’t set up a blog, publicise it, visit other blogs and leave yours bare. Post something at least once a week for optimum success.
5. Be yourself. Write honestly, even if it’s controversial content.
Everyone should consider blogging. If you can’t think of any other reason to do it, how about...everyone else is?!
