According to the Spanish language Latercera June 17 of 2010 may be the date of the Land Rover's LRX hybrid SUV launch. So say several sources inside the British car maker, which is currently in the hands of the Indian conglomerate Tata Motors.
Why this date is accurate?, Because it is the day that Land Rover becomes 40 years old company. The production is planned to begin int he British plant in Halewood.
Note that Land Rover will launch the LRX in three and five doors. The hybrid variant will be released in the medium term, reports Motor Spain.
Interestingly, according to Autoguide the Land Rover LRX will be based on the Freelander with a hybrid version most likely using an electrically driven rear axle to assist a front-drive gasoline engine. It is planned to deliver grip and performance, as well as fuel-economy.
