Peterhof, a brilliant country residence of Russian emperors, has a worldwide fame as the "capital of fountains". The ensemble of palaces, parks, fountains and waterfalls not inferior to its luxury of the famous French royal residence - Versailles.

Peter the Great was a creater of the Peterhof. He attached a great importance to the design of the complex of fountains.

In order to implement their plans the king drew the best architects, craftsmen of the fountain business, engineers and other specialists from Russia and other European countries. Peter the Great led a design and a construction of water cannons. In his numerous decrees related to the construction of Peterhof, Peter the Great always explained in detail how to build one or the other fountain, where better to place the cascade, and how to arrange a "water-funny ". Many of these fountains have been in operation for about three hundred years, and their glory is not tarnished, although the world has since built more complex and impressive fountain systems.

On September 19th a celebration of Peterhof fountains will be held . This is one of the most spectacular events held annually in St. Petersburg. It attracts the largest number of tourists from different countries.

A premiere is waiting for guests of Peterhof: after dark on the Grand Cascade and the facade of the Grand Palace will develop a laser-light and pyrotechnic show «Legend of the four elements: Water, Fire, Music and Light». Animating fountains and magnificent works of Russian architects will combine with massive light and music, laser, pyrotechnics and projection installation.

Thanks to modern projection equipment on the facade of the Grand Palace will appear beautiful, amazing designs, portraits of royalty, coats of arms and flags, ships and flowers.

The musical accompaniment will be music of Bach, PI Tchaikovsky, MI Glinka, MP Mussorgsky, Rossini and other composers. The total duration of the performance - consisting of a dozen episodes, pictures - about 40 minutes
