Android derivative Ophone OS is set to storm China as China Mobile yesterday launched it's own operating system called OPhone.
The oPhone, developed by the Chinese computer maker Lenovo, will feature advances such as a touchscreen, a five megapixel camera and a 624 MHz processor, a clear competition for the iPhone, which will be sold in the Chinese market for the first time Since October, five days ago announced China Unicom.
According to a survey on www.sina.com.cn, the largest Internet portal in China, 51 percent of the 2,161 respondents said they might buy an Ophone, attracted by its "powerful" mobile Internet connection and application functions. Chinese cell phone usage market is expected to reach to 700 million users by the end of the 2009. oPhone, surely will become a serious competition to iPhone.
oPhone sales, according to analysts cited by the official Xinhua news agency, will give a strong impetus to the Chine Mobile after the difficulties that the company had this year due to the crisis and the restructuring of China's telecommunications sector.
