Employees Don't Vacation Fearing To Lose Jobs

Many people around the world are taking their vacations during this time of the year. Millions of people have come back from their summer vacations. However, millions of American workers refrain from taking vacation this year for the fear of losing their jobs, reports Invertia.

Yes, these millions of U.S. employees have well deserved their vacations. They worked hard, yet live in fear for the economic reasons. And they are not the cause of this economic recession that started two years ago and slashed the dreams of millions of people worldwide.

According to a recent survey of job search web CareerBuilder.com, 35 percent of U.S. workers will not take vacation this year due to lack of money or fear that his job is not there at the turn of summer. In fact, those who do take vacation, don't plan to be 100 percent disconnected from their jobs. Nearly 28 percent of the respondents said they plan to contact their work office at leastonce during the holiday to make sure everything is goin gwell.

With an unemployment rate already at 9.5 percent and little sign that unemployment is reduced in the short term, the fear of job loss is increasingly common among workers in the U.S. We already hear fromthe economist that while the recovery may be on the way, this recovering may be known as jobless recovery.

This situation is indeed natural in the workplace in USA. Anxiety among workers is high due to the current economic situation. Especially it is high when workers take vacations. But vacations are necessary to maintain good level of productivity.

Day offs are very important. No wonder we are called to rest on the seventh day. Added responsibilites and work pressure do require well deserved rest. Yet many workers don't take their vacations due to the fear of losing their jobs.

Now, do we wonder why the Americans spend nearly twice as more than the Europeans and are less healthy? Europeans do take their vacations. Laws there seem to protect employees well. They do take their vacations without fear, or less of it. The holidays and vacations are essential not only for a good family life, but also for health. Perhaps we can lower the cost of health care partly by forcing employees to take their vacations.
