Big Blue Madness tickets officially go one sale this morning. Hundreds of tents have camped and engulfed the University of Kentuckey ahead of the ticket sales. Nearly 12 hours before the ticket sales one could count 420 tents waiting to get a hand of their 2009 ticket.

The distribution of the Big Blu Madness tickets starts this morning at 6AM. Actually they are not for sale, but are free. Tickets are available starting at 6 a.m. Oct.3 at the Memorial Coliseum ticket windows on Euclid Avenue and online at UKathletics.com and Ticketmaster.com.

As the UK atheltics reported last night coaches and members of the Kentucky men's basketball spent Friday night handing out pizza to campers who are camped outside Memorial Coliseum and the Joe Craft Center in an effort to get the 2009 tickets for Big Blue Madness.

"Coach John Calipari, players and staff spread out to distribute Papa Johns pizza to campers, who have lined the parking lot of the Joe Craft Center throughout the week. The campers were treated to McDonald's breakfast sandwichs and orange juice earlier in the week, as coach Calipari and the players went throughout the makeshift campground," reports UK Athletics.

According to the Currier Journal Big Blue Madness, the first open practice opportunity for Kentucky's 2009-10 men's and women's basketball teams, will be at 7:30p.m. Oct.16.

“I’m amazed every year at the dedication Kentucky fans have to their basketball program,” said Jason Schlafer, assistant athletics director of marketing and licensing at UK speaking of fun's desire to get a hand on the 2009 Big Blue Madness tickets. “There are typically hundreds of fans lined up for the chance to snag Big Blue Madness tickets and I was prepared for this year to be no different. But it is different. The tent village (affectionately known to many in line as “Camp Cal”) is the largest groups I can recall. And this is just to watch practice.”

Materials from UK Athletics and Currier Journal have contributed to this report.
