New Breed of Netbooks with Windows 7

Consumers have seen smaller Netbooks and Mini-Laptops as a secondary machine to buy alongside a standard laptop or a desktop computer.

If we consider the specs of an average Netbook just 12 months back, you would agree that initially Netbooks were positioned differently by the manufacturers, having 10 inch screens and hooked up with basic processors to just about fulfill your daily computing needs.

It’s fascinating to see the recent improvements made to the Netbooks with specially designed energy efficient processors (Intel Atom, AMD Neo, Intel Pentium SU series), bigger hard drivers and screen sizes, the latest breed of Netbooks can very well become a mainstream commodity.

The advancements made to the line of Netbooks is also driven by the state of the economy when consumers started acquiring cheaper netbooks and manufacturers like Asus and Samsung saw this as an opportunity to respond quickly.

The newer models on offer such as the ‘Toshiba Flatrion ’ or ‘Acer 1810 ‘ are pre-loaded with Windows 7 and have hard disks up to 320GBs, these incredible Netbook specs are set to blur the line between a traditional Laptop and Netbooks.

Now the marketplace is getting fiercely competitive with Netbook manufacturers offering value added features, more advanced processors, bigger hard disks, and latest Windows 7 OS. Daniel Lenan, Product Manager for Samsung UK states. “It’ll be consumer led; If the consumers ask for it, the industry will respond”
