Antivir: another scareware trap in the wild

This fall has been marked by the advent of some definitely corrupt and hazardous newcomers in the software world. Antivir is a new one, taking over the infamous Alpha Antivirus which was released in early October and ‘succeeded’ in paralyzing thousands of computer systems all over the planet while in rotation.

Antivir is hardly any different from the rest of its forerunners from the same rogue antispyware workshop. It appears to inherit all the determinative characteristic features of Personal Antivirus and the aforementioned Alpha AV badwares. Antivir is being actively distributed via browser hijacking and extremely stealthy trojan-powered techniques. No wonder the people who fall victim of Antivir fraud never notice the very infiltration of this rogueware – it’s very sneaky and immensely dangerous as it proceeds inside the compromised OS.

When on board the targeted host system, Antivir affects the Windows Registry by creating some corrupt registry keys, which in its turn influences the further system functioning on the whole. Antivir also tends to drop some junk files onto the system32 directory so that it can detect and label them malicious afterwards. In the meanwhile, these dummy system entities are completely harmless. This type of trickery is being exploited actively in the rogue antivirus industry.

In addition to the above, Antivir usually hijacks the web browser on the challenged computer so that the victim’s internet searches will get repeatedly directed to phony alert pages that claim to intercept and report some unsafe web activity. These fake warning sites encourage people to get ‘ultimate’ protection and buy Antivir licensed copy.

Along with the obsessive pranks of Antivir junkware such as bogus alerts, fake system scanners and browser redirects, this nasty program makes the infected Operating System suffer the consequences of its residing thereon by deteriorating the system performance. This symptom can be explained by Antivir deliberately consuming a great part of the CPU resources to produce the artificial and misleading impression that the system needs a cure. The remedy Antivir suggests is obvious – its commercial version.

In the context of Antivir resisting issues, please remember that you should under no circumstances end up purchasing this software. It’s dangerous and definitely not as helpful as it pretends to be. All the alerts and virus interception reports triggered by Antivir program are nothing but a hype aiming to get you paying money.

However, simply ignoring Antivir treacherous tips does not suffice to keep your system clear. It’s highly recommended to remove Antivir rogue antispyware tool before it ruins your cyber world. Both manual and automatic methods work if performed correctly so do not linger and exterminate Antivir threat at once.
