Infant Found Alive In Haiti After 7 Days

Firefighters from Colombia today found a 22 days old infant child from the Haiti rubble in the coastal city of Jacmel. The rescue of this infant was helped by French and Haitian rescuers.

According to the story, published in today's Dominican Today, a Bogota Fire Department official told AP that they literally pulled out this 22 days old child from the "clutches of death." The child stayed in the rubble for eight days.

Dominican Today writes that William Tovar, who is a Bogota Fire Department official provided the information on the phone. The newspaper also write that several miraculous events have been observed in Haiti after the earthquake

The baby girl lasted in the rubble for entire seven days. She was rescued yesterday. No other details were available. Indeed a miraculous introduction to live for this baby girl.

We asked Dr. Ramona Bates if an infant can survive like this for seven days She emailed back the following: "What an amazing story!!! The infant can not be in good shape, so is not out of the woods yet. He/she must have been born healthy and had no major injuries from the earthquake. The infant will now need to be rehydrated, etc. Sure hope the medical team has the supplies the infant needs."

Jacmel is located about 25 miles southwest of the capital Port-au-Prince.
