Do You Need High SPF For Sunscreen?

Sunny days are ahead of us and many people head to the beach during this Memorial Day weekend. Some will look for sunscreens to protect them from over exposure and reduce the risk of skin cancer. However, how much do you need to spend on sunscreens?

You probably have seen SPF 15, or SPF 30 on the sun protection creams. What do SPF numbers mean for sunscreen? They actually refer to sun protecting factors. They reduce 70-80 percent of skin cancer risk when used normally.

Recently there has been a spike in SPF numbers of sunscreens. In fact they can even reach to 100. However, as this video report says you don't really a sunscreen with such a high SPF number when you are going from your house to your car and from the parking lot to your office.

If you are going to be on the sun for a little longer, perhaps SPF 30 is OK, as it's said in this video. In any case, to keep the sunscreen working and protecting, one needs to reapply it for server times every few hours.

And remember: There is no such a thing as healthy tan.
