Wright County Egg, a Galt, Iowa egg company has issued a voluntary 2010 egg recall on thirteen brands of their eggs due to an incident that was reported concerning salmonella poisoning. Federal health officials are looking into this salmonella poisoning matter at this time because testing at the Wright County Egg Company showed that the farm eggs may contain the bacteria that causes severe illness.
The brands of eggs that are involved in the 2010 egg recall are Mountain Dairy, Lucerne, Hillandale, Albertson, Ralph’s, Shoreland, Boomsma’s, Kemps, Sunshine, Farm Fresh, Trafficanda, Lund, and Dutch Farms. All sized cartons of eggs are involved in the recall including six egg cartons, dozen egg cartons and eighteen egg cartons. Salmonella poisoning from these eggs were found in the United States of California, Minnesota and Colorado according to UK Today News and Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, according to the Chicago Sun Times. PR Newswire issued a statement naming the national wholesale distribution centers and foodservice companies in California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
2010 egg recall due to Salmonella poisoning
The 2010 egg recall only involves eggs with specific Julian date stamps. PR Newswire released this information: "Julian dates range from 136 to 225 and plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946. Dates and codes can be found stamped on the end of the egg carton. The plant number begins with the letter P and then the number. The Julian date follows the plant number, for example: P-1946 223." Only these eggs were most likely contaminated, said the press release.
Salmonella is a food-borne illness and Salmonella poisoning causes great sickness with symptoms of fever, cramping and diarrhea occurring usually within 12 to 72 hours after ingesting the contaminated food. In this case, it would be the Salmonella contaminated eggs.
Consumers who have purchased eggs from the companies listed above are encouraged to return the eggs in their original cartons to the store in which they were purchased. Full refunds will be given by the stores.
If you have eggs at home that are not involved in the 2010 egg recall, be sure to properly store them in the correct temperature in your refrigerator. Handle eggs carefully, cleaning up after egg spillage and thoroughly cook eggs before consuming. The Egg Safety Center and the Food and Drug Administration both recommend fully cooking eggs and never ingesting foods that may contain raw or undercooked eggs.

#1 Egg Recall
I have been vomiting and having diarreaha since yesterday evening. We have eggs on the list with the plant numbers on there I am so glad that I decided last minute not to feed my kids eggs for breakfast this morning or my whole family would be sick right now. The government needs to do something regarding situations like this. I need a lawyer. This is not fair I could have died
#2 you need a lawyer
What is it with people like you who want to sue everyone...BLAH BLAH..Looking for a lawyer for a belly ache vomiting?? Grow the hell up people like you make me sick..hmmm i wonder if there is a lawyer for that?
#3 Seriously??? You are an
Seriously??? You are an idiot. Enough said.
#4 I understand
I feed my 18 month old child these eggs at the start of summer and it TOOK him 7 weeks to get over it. We had to go to the doctors office twice a week to give stoole samples. There had fears that it could infect his blood and cause major damage to his heart. The doctors bills were HUGE, not to mention the stress and agony of watch my child vomit blood and double over in pain. His bottom was blistered from having the runs for 7 weeks straight. He is a baby and it took weeks and weeks for him to get over....so yes I understand wanting to get in touch with a lawyer. We know it was the eggs and it was documented back then as he was the only one who ate them and got sick. This company should be fined at the least.
#5 WOW
Dee- Thanks for making me laugh! You are soo right! If one of her kids had died I could definitely see sueing someone, but not for that... Anonymous just so you know... If you FULLY cook your eggs to start with even if the salmonella bactiria is present it will die and you WON'T get sick... DUH!!
#6 egg recall
Everyone you don't have to freak out. You just have to make sure that you cook your eggs. I don't know anyone who eats their eggs raw. Do you?

#7 oh my!
Unless the store purposefully sold you eggs that were tainted, and knew ahead of time and disregarded any and all warnings, there is not intent and no reason to sue. If you handle the food and prepare the food appropriately, then there should not be an issue. Do you eat your steak rare? or pink burgers? just wondering........ Oh and JCW is correct, properly cooked food will dramatically decrease your chance of getting salmonella. Also, do not eat any raw eggs or products that contain raw eggs, (french silk pie, raw cookie dough, etc) unless it contains pastuerized eggs. (and it is an FDA regulation that ice cream containing cookie dough MUST use pastuerized eggs! Also, another thing people should be aware of: most poultry contains samonella, and a hen can pass it along to an egg before the shell begins to form! Cooking it to 160 degrees is neccesary to kill an and all bacteria!
I hope OP feels better, I know you are probably just talking out of frustration, fear and "sickness".......
#8 egg recall
Just be sure you fully cook any eggs you use- that means no soft boiled, raw, runny eggs. No tasting unbaked cookie dough,or other homemade food mixtures containing raw eggs. This should be normal food handling procedure in your home kitchen no matter what is going on regarding recalls. Use good sense even if it makes it hard to sue someone else for your carelessness.
