It is a case of tragic irony. Christopher Kaiser, 29, was looking for signs of a ghost train when a real train struck and killed him near Statesville, NC.
Kaiser was with about a dozen other amateur ghost hunters on Friday morning, August 27th, the same date a train was derailed from Bostian Bridge in 1891, killing 30 people. Legend says that the sounds of people screaming, wheels screeching and a terrible crash can be heard each year on the accident’s anniversary making the site a popular one for ghost hunters.
Before being knocked into the ravine, Kaiser pushed a female member of the party out of the way. She was taken to hospital by helicopter. The others in their group fled since they were trespassing (Toronto Sun). According to The News Chronicle, the engineer stopped as quickly as he could and was traveling at its usual speed.
The Dangers of Ghost Hunting
