Perhaps you remember Furbies. Or the rush to get other hot toys for Christmas, like the latest Pet-shops or Webkinz. .On-line shoppers are taking advantage of the chance to by-pass the chaos and conflict of shopping for Christmas toys by shopping on-line today.
You may think Target was the first to get in on early Christmas deals, but Toys ‘R’ Us would probably lay claim to that distinction. They started their Holiday promotion on the 18th of July and finish on the 24th.
As for what you’ll save on, well, it’s a toy store. You can expect to bring home items like Lego, dolls and Thomas the Tank Engine figures at a discount if you hurry. Maybe they caught wind of other retailers’ plans, or perhaps it was the other way around. Whatever the case, now is the chance (within the next few hours perhaps) to get the ‘must-have’ toys for Christmas 2010.
These include ‘Zhu Zhu Pets’, now on-sale during Target’s Black Friday event. Such robotic pets continue the trend in virtual animals. In this case, your pet hamster will not foul any area of your house; his cage will not need cleaning; forget feeding him. Then again, there is a mountain of accessories available, all of which enhance the virtual experience. The Zhu Zhu Pets website (featuring pictures of hamsters like Patches and Chunk) notes that the more triggers (found in the accessories such as tunnels), the more sounds these pets will make; forty or more. They also respond to cuddling with a ‘squeak’ and will start scooting around their pet toys whenever you stroke their backs. The website declares this to be the up and coming toy of 2010. Perhaps Target or someone else will also sell ear plugs for parents in advance of December sales on those sanity-preserving items.
Parents might have seen this coming; the revolution in pets needing no care. Since kids are frequently busy at school, participating in after school activities and frequently no one is at home for hours, robotic pets provide the next best thing to real ones. They also do not cause allergies unless you break out in hives when coming into contact with plastic.
Customers can search for more, of course. Star Wars is still as big as ever. One Target sale item, a Leapfrog math program, borrows inspiration from this long-standing favorite. Typical savings range from 25-50%.
Meanwhile, the Toys ‘R’ Us sale items also includes a big ticket purchase normally associated with summer: a huge wooden outdoor play set. Add to this the outdoor fun of sidewalk chalk and outdoor paint at a cut price during their Christmas in July Sale. Consumers will still find gifts to tuck away for Christmas – electronics, dolls, and even games without batteries.
Act fast: you could be celebrating early savings.
