Looks like Charlie Sheen just can’t stay out of trouble. Recently out of rehab, the Two and a Half Men star was arrested early this morning at a New York hotel (People).
Sheen (45) was in town visiting ex-wife Denise Richards (39) and their daughters. While at the Plaza Hotel he is said to have started drinking at around 8 pm. Six hours later he was intoxicated, naked and enraged. Sheen thought someone had stolen his wallet (ABC). Police were called in by hotel security and the actor was taken away by ambulance to New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for psychological evaluation (People). Because this was an ‘aided case’ he is not officially under arrest. No one was harmed.
Apart from exposing himself and getting drunk, Sheen also caused damage to furniture and a chandelier in his room.
Sheen’s publicist insists that his client was not drunk but had experienced an allergic reaction to some medications he was taking (ABC). A reputation of substance abuse, however, may account for public cynicism.
Long History of Trouble for Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen’s battle with substances and anger have long been pasted across magazine covers and written-up on the internet. In December he was charged with domestic abuse after brandishing a knife at wife Brooke Mueller (ABC). He was sentenced to time in rehab and a stint at anger management. None of this appears to be working; friends and family must be growing increasingly worried about his self-destructive behavior. Mueller, mother of their twins, remains estranged from their father unsurprisingly. Others allegedly have trouble with the actor as well. Us magazine reports that he is not very popular with the crew of Two and Half Men for which he is paid $1.3 million per/episode.
Yet he has a gentler side too. On September 25th, the proud father walked daughter Cassandra Estevez (25) down the aisle as she wed junior high sweetheart Casey Huffman. Cassandra is Sheen’s daughter with high school girlfriend Paula Speert (People). He was said to have been very funny and given an enjoyable toast at the Rotunda Room at Bacara Resort and Spa, Santa Barbara, in front of 165 guests.
