Adele, fresh off winning six Grammy Awards has had to resort to legal means to address still images from a sex tape purported to be of her.

Adele hired the high powered British law firm, Schillings to address the publication of the images in the French tabloid 'Public'.

The screaming headline “Adele, the Sex Tape, her ex takes his revenge”. linked the publication to Adele's ex-boyfriend that sparked her songs of love gone bad, including "Rolling in the Deep."

Public devoted three pages to the sex tape images calling them “bold” and maintaining that they showed Adele in the back seat of her ex-boyfriend’s car and that the pictures were taken on a smartphone.

Adele's attorney issued a strong statement about the entire affair, reported British media.

"'We are informed that the French magazine Public has today published images which it claims show our client in a sex tape. Our client has not appeared in a sex tape as claimed in the article. Our client does not appear in the photographs. Such claims are untrue and grossly defamatory. Our client is taking legal action in relation to this matter."

A spokesman for Adele called the tabloid claims "...untrue and grossly defamatory. 100 per cent false".

Prior to her Grammy triumph the British singer enjoyed some time in the Florida sun with new boyfriend, Simon Konecki and reportedly has moved into a pricey new home.

The sex tape story welcomes the singer to the world of global recognition, fame and success. Adele's appearance on the CBS televised Grammy Awards program last weekend was a comeback for the award winning singer.

She was received by those in attendance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with multiple standing ovations. The reaction was not solely based on her talent and had a lot to do with her recovery from a career threatening throat operation.

Last autumn Adele canceled her tour dates and announced the news to her fans on her website. She described the operation as necessary to remove a benign throat polyp that was bleeding.

Her surgery was successfully perform in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital's Voice Center. She had to refrain from speaking and singing and once again took to her blog to keep fans informed.

"Thank you for all your positive thoughts and get well wishes. I’m doing really well, on the mend, super happy, relaxed and very positive with it all. The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all clear from my doctors."
