In one of this week's new episodes of A&E's American Hoggers, Jerry Campbell puts an end to the war between his kids over which one should run the hog hunting business.
In "If You Want Something Done Right" Krystal and Robert Campbell continued to snipe at each other, trying to prove their superiority.
Krystal is supported by Lea Penick, an outside member of the foursome that roams the plains of Texas at the request of land owners who have seen the devastation caused by wild hogs.
Robert, 26 was handed the keys to the castle in a succession plan that was simple. Robert is Jerry's son and the older of his children. It seemed natural for him to make that decision.
Krystal, 23 believes she is just as worthy and without a family meeting about it, she got resentful. It has helped her success rate however, as she hustled more to try and make her brother look bad. Read: Krystal earns respect at Robert's expense
Running the business means making decisions about which jobs to take, how to approach it and when to go out on the hunt. On the fly decisions sometimes dictate others in the team changing it up a bit and it is there that Krystal is taking advantage of her brother.
During one hunt, Robert undertook a risky maneuver on terrain that wasn't good for a chase on horseback. He and his horse went down as the runaway hog got away. Jerry opined:
"After watching Robert try and rope that wild hog I think he's trying too hard. The horse can't get his footing real good." Robert and the horse were lucky they weren't seriously injured.
Robert's decision also cost Jerry some money. After re-starting the hunt the Jeep got stuck in the sandy terrain. The girls were out chasing the runaway hog and Jerry was forced to pay someone to bulldoze the vehicle out of trouble.
While he groused about Robert's judgement, he broke up a nasty verbal exchange between the kids by screaming at them to just shut up. Jerry took back the lead dog role on the spot,
The elder Campbell admitted he made a mistake about the succession plan and it paid dividends immediately. Jerry's savvy got the team to catch the biggest hog causing the problems for their customer.
Cooperation between the siblings returned and Jerry wondered what he's have to do to keep the peace.
Here's a thought, why not give the kids incentive bonuses based on what the group catches, not any one individual? It will reduce the personal heroics and everyone will win based on team success.
What do you think Jerry should do about his warring children? The comment section is open.
