Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers: Register today for Million Dollar Challenge

Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers kick off Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation: Million Dollar You Monday September 26, as part of season-long viewer challenge.

The producers of Dr. Oz, the award-winning, nationally syndicated daily talk and information program just announced a season-long viewer health challenge, in partnership with Weight Watchers.

Its aim is to lead viewers through seven steps towards optimum health, each with its own completion criteria. Semi-finalists will be chosen and then a panel of judges will narrow down 10 finalists with the grand prize winner being voted on by viewers.

Weight Watchers tip to jump start exercise: start with just 5 minutes.

REGISTER FOR CHANCE TO WIN: You must be registered to participate and have a chance to win the grand prize and can do so at www.doctoroz.com.

Here are the steps to follow in the "Million Dollar You" challenge:

Participants must work with Weight Watchers and get weighed to calculate their individual BMI. This can be done on the company's website or at a meeting close to you. The weigh-in and BMI calculation are complimentary to participants once registered for the challenge.

There will be questions related to your family's health history the answers to which will assist the professional weight-loss professionals to determine whether you are getting enough sleep, your stress level and how to add fitness to your life.

Connecting your doctor into the process and learning how to gain support from friends and family are two keys to success. One lucky person who completes all seven steps will walk away with $1 million dollars.

Weight Watchers announced changes to Points Plus program for 2012. New ways to lose.

Dr. Mehmet Oz was quoted in the program's press release about the link-up with Weight Watchers as saying, "I have been saying for years that we need to make it easy for you to do the right thing, and now we have. Every person has the right to look and feel like a million bucks, so we decided we would make $1 million available as motivation. The great news is that even if you don't win the cash, you still win in the long run by getting healthier."

A spokesman for Weight Watchers International said. " We're thrilled to be partnering with Dr. Oz to help transform America's health," said company's President, North America, Dave Burwick. Working together, we can reach a nation at risk. Recent estimates show that by 2030 – in less than 20 years – 65 million more Americans will be obese.

The Dr. Oz program is nationally syndicated. Check local listings for the time and channel in your area.

Dr. Oz, I am 55 yrs. old and desperately need to lose at least 50 lbs. My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a year ago and could really use the money too. I lost my job in July 2009 and had to take a job making $6.00 less an hour. I walk at least 3 times a week and have lost about 25 lbs. but still need to lose 50 more. Please let me know what else I need to do to register. Thank you.

I need the help to continue what I started this year. I am a 67, only 5'4", and am over 200#, but I have lost 25# so far this year, although I have stalled out lately. Both my parents were diabetic by their early 50's and died younger than I am now. So far I have avoided becoming another diabetic but the tendency is there. I've watched every day since I discovered it last year, and have learned a lot. Keep up the good work! I love it. I have invited my eldest to join with me or at least be my support and cheerleader. So sign me up!

I am 47 years old and have gone through menopause and it has taken its toll on my body and mind! I just bought a treadmill and am determined to get back in shape before I reach 50 but I dont seem to have the willpower anymore. I seriously need help!

Since vacation on 9/12 I've been talking to myself about going back to Weight Watchers. (Lifetime member having lost 91 lbs. in 1977) Even told my cousin WE were going to lose weight. This morning I looked at myself in the mirror in disgust. At 4 o'clock I saw your show (sex & marriage which does not apply to me) but then I saw a blip of your 'Million Dollar You' Challenge associated with Weight Watchers. I got excited! Although One Million sounds mighty good to me since I lost my job two years ago, my true reason is the fact that I wanted to be a part of this huge nationwide challenge. It's the 'shot in the arm' to get me motivated in food control, walking with my neighbor again and regain the energy I once had. TRANSFORMATION!! What a lovely word. Did it 3 times and I can do it again. Thanks Dr. Oz.

Dont tell me you're too old to lose weight. I will be 75 in February and have so far lost 100 lbs. with weight watchers. It took me 3 years? I would like to lose 16 more lbs. to reach my goal. The closer to goal, the harder it seems to be. I hope this contest will be the kick in the butt to get me going.
