Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers: Register today for Million Dollar Challenge

Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers kick off Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation: Million Dollar You Monday September 26, as part of season-long viewer challenge.

The producers of Dr. Oz, the award-winning, nationally syndicated daily talk and information program just announced a season-long viewer health challenge, in partnership with Weight Watchers.

Its aim is to lead viewers through seven steps towards optimum health, each with its own completion criteria. Semi-finalists will be chosen and then a panel of judges will narrow down 10 finalists with the grand prize winner being voted on by viewers.

Weight Watchers tip to jump start exercise: start with just 5 minutes.

REGISTER FOR CHANCE TO WIN: You must be registered to participate and have a chance to win the grand prize and can do so at www.doctoroz.com.

Here are the steps to follow in the "Million Dollar You" challenge:

Participants must work with Weight Watchers and get weighed to calculate their individual BMI. This can be done on the company's website or at a meeting close to you. The weigh-in and BMI calculation are complimentary to participants once registered for the challenge.

There will be questions related to your family's health history the answers to which will assist the professional weight-loss professionals to determine whether you are getting enough sleep, your stress level and how to add fitness to your life.

Connecting your doctor into the process and learning how to gain support from friends and family are two keys to success. One lucky person who completes all seven steps will walk away with $1 million dollars.

Weight Watchers announced changes to Points Plus program for 2012. New ways to lose.

Dr. Mehmet Oz was quoted in the program's press release about the link-up with Weight Watchers as saying, "I have been saying for years that we need to make it easy for you to do the right thing, and now we have. Every person has the right to look and feel like a million bucks, so we decided we would make $1 million available as motivation. The great news is that even if you don't win the cash, you still win in the long run by getting healthier."

A spokesman for Weight Watchers International said. " We're thrilled to be partnering with Dr. Oz to help transform America's health," said company's President, North America, Dave Burwick. Working together, we can reach a nation at risk. Recent estimates show that by 2030 – in less than 20 years – 65 million more Americans will be obese.

The Dr. Oz program is nationally syndicated. Check local listings for the time and channel in your area.

I need to lose over 100 lbs. Just saying that makes me feel hopeless. I lost 80 lbs 8 years ago and gained it back during menopause. I know that once I set my mind to it I can accomplish it. I feel that maybe your incentive may just work. I'm definetly ready to try.

I need to lose 130.00 tl.for myself..So far I have 12pds. Off..I have to loose weight for me but also so I can be around to take care of my family ..I do have a lot of medical issues related to my weight ...I take meds. Just to make it through the day ...what opened my eyes was that I had to pay an extra $100.00 just to ride in a helicopter to see the grandcanyon ....Also had to have an extender for the seat belt on the air plane ...Very embarrassing...I'm excited to get healthy...Thank you

I need to lose about 90 lbs. Health and well being of course is the most important reason, but I am preparing to go Europe next September and I would like to ride the plane without the sides of the seat digging into my sides and also without an extender on the seatbelt. I want to really enjoy the trip without worrying obout my size and be able to enjoy the country and the tours. I could start a weight loss program for young people that might not be able to pay and offer yearly scholarships for them to weight watchers.

I need to lose at least 40lbs. I have just lost 10 lbs. on the 17 day diet, which is really a very good diet but I've been interested in Weight Watchers for sometime now. I am 67 yrs. old, 5'2" and weigh 165. I am the sole caregiver for my 70 yr. old husband who has Alzheimers. This in its self is very stressful. I think losing weight will make it easier on me when times get tougher with his desease.

I am a current Weight Watchers member ( as of three weeks ago). Three years ago I lost 112 pounds with WW and I know the program works, however; I let the stresses of everyday life get in the way and I fell off of program when I was only 2lbs away from my goal weight. It is now three years later and I am 140lbs overweight. I know I can do this and Dr. Oz made me think about the health benefits and I want to live a healthy lifestyle. I stopped attending meetings after I gained my weight back and I promised myself that I would attend all of my meetings and get the weight off again. This challenge has also been a good step for me because I always avoid the doctor’s office and I now have an appointment to see my doctor as it is one of the criteria for this challenge. Good luck to each and every one of you on your weight loss/ healthy life journey. I have done it once and I know that I can do it again and SO CAN YOU!!!!!! Be healthy eat the right foods move more and enjoy your life..... You only have one :)

I have lost 53 lbs and would love to lose at least 50 lbs more. My sugar has dropped and is better. It is so hard to lose. I also quit drinking diet pepsi a few months ago and I truly believe it helped me to lose weight. I now drink Green Tea.

I wanted to take the Oz challenge, however, I was bummed-out to know that I had to go through WW. WW doesn't work for me, been there, done that. I am a female electrician and the plan doesn't give me enough calories. This plan is fine for someone who sits in an office all day, but not for me. I am continually hungry 24-7 with this plan. Kudos for those who are successfull with this plan. WW is the best out there, but not for me. Good luck to you all, and I guess I'll have to find another plan.

I was recently (March 2011) diagnosed with stage II Breast Cancer. I have completed Chemotherapy, and just completed my last Radiation yesterday. I joined Weight Watchers here at work so that I may take control of my life again!!. I would like to lose about 60-80 Lbs. I will accept any help you can give me. I have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me!!! I will be working very hard to obtain this goal. I spent my entire life taking care of my family, working 2 & 3 jobs just to make ends meet and more that I never took the time for me. This has been a rude awakening, but a blessing in disquise. I would love to win this contest as it would be a wonderful reward for all my efforts and hard work and I would love to help my parents and ex-in laws who don't have much right now and have always been there for me!!!!
