Dr. Oz says last chance to register 'Million Dollar You Weight Loss Challenge'

The Dr. Oz Transformation Nation "Million Dollar You" contest is about to close its registration this Sunday Feb. 26, 2012.

The weight loss contest created and sponsored by Dr. Oz in conjunction with Weight Watchers was announced in September 2011 and participation will close this weekend.

Transformation Nation has many components under the Dr. Oz umbrella and the Million Dollar Challenge has been wildly popular. There are 1.2 million people registered who have already lost 135,000 pounds.

Those still interested should sign-up at the Dr. Oz website and weigh-in at the nearest Weight Watchers center no later than this Sunday, February 26, 2012 for a chance at cash prizes and a trip to Southern California.

There is no need to become a member of Weight Watchers to participate and there is no fee for the weigh-in and body mass index evaluation.

Dr. Oz has enticed many to start losing pounds and learn about healthier eating with the program that has seven key steps:

1) Tell a friend: Accountability and getting help from someone who knows about your effort is important. Dr. Oz recommends that after your receive your BMI number, to write it down, photograph yourself with it and post it on Facebook at the link provided at the Dr. Oz site.

2) Official weigh-in and evaluation: Just go to your local Weight Watchers center, tell them you want to participate in the Million Dollar Challenge and are there for a free weigh-in and BMI measurement. There will be a final weigh-in necessary to qualify for prizes.

3) Connect with your doctor: Before engaging in any weight-loss program, your doctor should be advised or consulted. He or she can help you determine if the program you are joining is a good one for you.

4) Learn your family health history: You can assist your doctor advise you about what to avoid or focus on during your weight-loss journey.

5) Get more sleep: Dr. Oz knows that sleep deprivation may be what is holding you back from losing the weight you want.

7) Start new fitness habits: Along with changing your diet, moving more than you do is not only recommended, it is one of the only ways to maintain your weight loss once you've gotten to your goal.

Prizes are awarded to those that complete the basics of losing 10% of their body weight, confirmed with an official weigh-in no later than April 9, 2012, and achievement of a healthy BMI number for their weight.

Judges will narrow the field to 200 participants, then to 50 and the final 10. The public will get to vote once the top 10 are named, for a chance at winning $1 million and an expenses-paid trip to N.Y. for a taping of the Dr. Oz television show.
