Eli Manning 'going to Disney World' as MVP of Super Bowl 46

Walt Disney World

The Disney World parade on Monday afternoon will celebrate Eli Manning of the N.Y. Giants, who was crowned the MVP of Super Bowl XLVI.

The Disney World media folks did it again. For the 45th time, they nabbed the MVP after the victory celebration on the football field, got him to look into the camera lens and intone the now familiar refrain. "I'm going to Disney World."

Manning was whisked to Orlando from Indianapolis where his team won their second Super Bowl in four years with a 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots, the same team they defeated in 2008.

Eli threw for 296 yards and one touchdown on 30 of 40 passing. Hakeem Nicks, Giants' wide receiver caught 10 passes for 109 yards. His fellow receivers had good days as well as Victor Cruz brought in 4 catches including the only passing TD of the day.

Mario Manningham's acrobatic late fourth-quarter catch along the sideline that extended the final drive that ended in the winning points, went for 38 yards and was part of his 73 yard, 5 catch performance.

The Giants had been given up for dead after 14 games in the season. With a 7-7 record and the Dallas Cowboys looking like they would take the NFC East, the Giants began a string of victories that carried them to the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night.

Manning threw 15 fourth quarter touchdown passes during the regular season and yesterday's victory over the Patriots included a final drive late in the game that resulted in a TD, but this time on the ground when Ahmad Bradshaw reluctantly sat down in the end zone.

Darrell Fry, Sports Media Director of Walt Disney World proudly announced the company's own victory on the resort's blog. Manning will sit atop a float for the Grand Parade that kicks off at 1:20 p.m. ET.

The parade takes place on Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom Park and according to Mr. Fry:

"Eli will interact with some NFL Youth kids and maybe experience an attraction or two, creating some lasting Disney memories just like millions of guests at Disney Parks all around the world. Then he’ll jet back home where undoubtedly the Super Bowl celebrations will continue."

The Orlando Magic Kingdom is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside Resort. According to the Nate Rasmussen, a Disney archivist and historian, the resort hotel was inspired by picturesque Louisiana and has 2,048 guest rooms, which are split up into two separate areas within the resort – Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend.
